Alfred Cove Chiropractic Centre

Your First Visit

When you arrive We will ask you to fill out an information form that will give Gavin an idea of what you are experiencing now, what the problem has been and any other medical history.  It is a good idea to give yourself 10 minutes before your appointment time to fill this in.

We pride ourselves on our efficiency so don’t worry, we won’t leave you waiting for hours.  Gavin is generally able to see people right at their scheduled time.

The Consultation

Gavin will discuss your present health issues in relation to the suitability of his treatment methods and provide a working prognosis.  In some cases he may need to have x-ray images taken. He uses x-rays to detect distortions in the structure of your spine or arthritis and other degenerative conditions. X-rays give him a good indication of how long you have had a condition and a guide to the time frame and intensity of the treatment required. If you need x-rays, they can be taken locally, and if you have a medicare card they can be bulk billed.

We do not give a spinal adjustment without first thoroughly investigating your condition & case however he will treat you on your first visit.

What To Bring

It’s a good idea to wear comfortable clothes and minimal jewellery to your visits. Clothing is generally not required to be removed.

It is helpful to bring:

  • your health fund card (if you have one)
  • any previous x-rays, CT scans or MRI films that you think are relevant

You do not need a referral to see us or to make an appointment.

How Long Do Appointments Take?

Because your first visit includes a detailed examination and personal health history, you should allow approximately half an hour for the appointment plus the 10 minutes beforehand to fill out the information form.

Follow-up visits for spinal adjustments are much faster, typically lasting 15 minutes and we will always endeavour to run on time.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments you will need depends on:-

The type of condition you have, how long you’ve had it and the severity of the injury.  However, we always attempt for your treatment program to be as short as possible as we do not prescribe long term treatment plans for everybody.  We treat all of our patients and needs individually.

How much will it cost?

Your initial consultation, examination and treatment is $85.  Private health insurance can be claimed immediately and the gap can be paid with either cash or eftpos on the day.

Subsequent visits are a $65 paid on the day, $58 for pensioners and children under 16.
